14.00 Zazen

17.30 Illallinen/Kvällsmål

19.00 Zazen

This is our current schedule outside of sesshins. Let’s walk it through!

Wake up bell at 5.15. Simple as that. With help of little determination we make it to the Zendo in time.

Formal Zazen begins at 5.40. We sit two 30 minutes rounds, bell in the middle for those who wants to change posture. Afterwards kinhin. After kinhin we will have chanting.

8.00 we start with a formal breakfast including a meal chant, food offerings etc. Breakfast is eaten in silence. Preparing the breakfast is a task that rotates among trainees.

8.40 we meet at the dining room for the work meeting. Everybody gets something to do.

10.10 tea break.

10.30 back to the work.

10 minutes before the lunch is served, a bell will signal the end of the work period. 12.10 formal lunch is served in a same manner like the breakfast is.

After a lunch table is cleaned out communally, we return to the work for 30 minutes. This time work period could be more like tiding up your work area for the next day.

13.10 we have 50 minutes break before Zazen begins.

14.00 formal Zazen. Two times 40 minutes, kinhin in between. BUT in the middle of every 40 minutes round there will be possibility to change posture. This zazen period will end with the sitting bow followed by standing bow.

People can have supper when they want and each one cleans up possible traces afterwards.

19.00 starts our formal evening zazen. Two times 40 minutes plus one time 20 minutes. Again it is possible for those who wish to do so, to change their posture in the middle of every 40 minutes round.

As some of you may have noticed this schedule differs a bit from the one you have seen in Zengården. That is, because every place has it own way that takes wayfarers eventually to the one same highway.

PS. Since our talkoo-weekend ended 19.7. and we opened our doors for the first time 22.7. for our members to practice and work in Sanneji, there has been not a single moment without somebody/somebodies else than Josephine or I practicing here too! And it seems to continue…

PS1. Residents day off will start every week after Monday informal lunch followed by communal kitchen cleaning. Tuesday is unscheduled. On Wednesday morning we start at 9.00 with work meeting.
